Apollo 13

Tonight I saw Apollo 13 starring Tom Hanks, Kevin Bacon and Bill Paxton. I've seen this movie before, but I haven't ever written about it. This is a really good movie. It has a good, real story to base itself on, and I think that's why it's so good. There's no Hollywood mumbo jumbo plot devices thrown in because it has them all already and they work, they're part of the real story.
Everybody knows the story, so this won't be a spoiler: Astronauts take off for the Moon, oxygen tanks blow up 4 days into the trip, the crew and people at NASA ground control fight to get the astronauts home safely. There's action, there's drama, there's touchy-feely (the astronaut's familys and the astronauts themselves) and it all has a happy ending. That's the way it happened and that's the way it was shown.
I highly recommend it if you haven't seen it before, and if you have, see it again because it's still good even if you know the ending.

Hair

I saw it. She rented it. I was trying to divert myself by learning stuff on the internet. I should have played games. Let's move on.

Most curious factoid: Apparently a lot of male nudity and one sopping underwear lassie still garners a PG rating. I'm baffled. I hear the play ended in a lot of nude folks on the stage. The only thing you'll get out of the end of this flick is a song from another musical that's better than anything preceding.
Rating: 1/5 out of ?? shriveled inuendos.

Grosse Pointe Blank

For some reason, I thought that this movie would be about surfers, but I was totally wrong. Never ask me to explain why. This is basically the story of a guy, who happens to be a professional killer, attending his 10 year high school reunion. Mix that with a dash of hit man trying to kill hit man and hilarity ensues.
Joan Cusack is annoying at best, but John Cusack is great as he delivers a bunch of good one liners. I don't think I've seen any other movie with Minnie Driver but I guess she was ok here.
Dan Aykroyd's character was enjoyable and makes a reference a couple of times to popcorn popping, I'm not exactly sure what's up with that.
I'd recommend it, even more so if you're into 80's music as it's soundtrack is choc full of goodies.
One more thing...for a while...
